Poverty, hunger, orphans to AIDS and child exploitation are some of the fundamental problems in Uganda. In 2009, 64,000 people died from the devastating AIDS epidemic in Uganda and sadly 1.2 million children were made orphans [Avert, 2009].
With the help from our team on the ground – Ariba is trying to improve conditions and build futures in this province.

Father John Bashobora
Fr John Bashobora is Ariba’s point of contact in Uganda and is a very inspirational person. This is very apparent when he is visiting the children. They excitedly run towards him and crowd around him and see him as a father figure. With your help, Ariba can assist these disadvantaged and sometimes traumatised children who are accepted into the family of Fr John Bashobora, offered food, education, a place to call home, and most importantly love. With the help of Ariba, Fr John has supported over 5000 children.

Fr John Bashobora is accompanied by volunteers like Dr Esther whose personal story you can find on the Home Page, Naturinda Scoria who looks after the administration of all the students and Rachel, who has been brought up by Fr John and with his help became a qualified Telecom Engineer. Naturinda, Rachel and Esther are spending most of their spare time helping Fr John Bashobora with organizing the children's education by placing children in Fr John Bashobora own schools or finding places in other schools nearer to where the children live.
